For comparison, in 2024, 14 deaths were recorded, 11 of them in flight and 3 in the departure lounge of Tashkent International Airport.
In addition, 46 people were suspended from flights at the country's airports in 2024 due to health reasons. In the first half of 2025, this figure increased to 61 passengers.
"Most tragic situations happen in the air, so it is important that passengers are aware of the possible risks in advance and take into account their medical contraindications to flights," said Sevara Salikhova, Head of the Medical Support Development Department at Uzbekistan Airports.
The main medical contraindications to flying include:
· recent surgical interventions;
· acute cardiovascular diseases (for example, heart attack, unstable angina pectoris);
· stroke and other acute neurological conditions;
· pneumothorax, severe bronchial asthma, pneumonia;
· thromboembolism, active bleeding, severe anemia;
· barotrauma of the ear, sinuses, and eyes;
· late-term pregnancy, especially with complications.

It is important to know that the requirements for medical contraindications may vary from airline to airline. In some cases, the carrier has the right to request a doctor's certificate, for example, in case of unstable diagnoses, the need for oxygen support, medical support, or late pregnancy.
