Dubai-EXPO: implementation of cooperation projects discussed

    On February 14, 2022, a working meeting with the participation of a delegation of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates within the framework of the Dubai-EXPO international exhibition.

    As you know, today the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a strategic partner in the development of the fuel and energy complex of our country.

    On August 27, 2021, the first photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 100 MW in Navoi region was successfully commissioned on the basis of a public-private partnership with the Emirati company Masdar. Currently, the station is operating in accordance with the established procedure.

    Also, according to the results of tenders held with the assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the construction of three photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of at least 600 MW, Masdar was also announced as the leader with a proposal to build three photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 897 MW.

    A number of major investment projects for the construction and commissioning of wind farms are planned to be implemented in the country. In this regard, in June 2020, agreements on the purchase of electricity were signed with the Masdar company for the construction of a 500 MW wind power plant.

    The effectiveness of implemented projects, as well as upcoming investment projects were discussed at the workshop. In particular, they discussed the possibility of cooperation in Uzbekneftegaz JSC and Thermal Power Plants JSC.

    During the meeting, possible joint projects of Uzbekneftegaz and TPP were discussed, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
