Within its framework, the delegation of Uzbekistan held a presentation of the country's tourism potential. Delegates of the member countries of the World Tourism Organization were informed about the ongoing reforms in our country, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the field of tourism, information was provided on the ongoing reforms, new trends and green technologies being implemented locally, as well as on the processes of preparation for the 25th session of the General Assembly.
Also, within the framework of the event, a number of meetings were held with representatives of foreign delegates, they were invited to actively participate in the event of the General Assembly in Samarkand.
The event was attended by more than 500 delegates from the member countries of the World Tourism Organization, including more than 50 ministers of tourism, heads of foreign tourism administrations, representatives of international organizations and industry experts.
Within the framework of the conference, a number of sessions were held at which investments in ecology and human capital, new tourist destinations, sustainable tourism, education in this field, innovations and gender issues were discussed.
Speaking at the event, UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili urged everyone to travel to Uzbekistan. In his speech, he stressed that Uzbekistan is a new attractive tourist destination and called on the heads of delegations of the Organization's member States to actively participate in the event of the General Assembly, which will be held in Samarkand on October 16-20 this year.
Following the results of the international forum in Riyadh, an agreement was reached to hold the World Tourism Day in 2024 in Georgia.
