The Federal Chancellor of Germany gets acquainted with the Registan ensemble

    The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit, at Registan Square.

    The world-famous Registan Square, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is Uzbekistan’s prominent landmark, reflecting great ancestors’ creative potential. The Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tillaqori madrassahs, which are part of the ensemble, leave deep impressions on the country’s guests with their scale, rich history, and unique architecture.

    The distinguished guest got acquainted with the historical facts of the construction of this pearl of oriental architecture, the features of architectural solutions and decor, significant events and personalities associated with this place, and the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.

    During the conversation, it was noted that the city of Samarkand, rightfully known as one of the ancient cradles of world civilization, is becoming an important international business and tourist center.
