Poetic works are accepted in Arabic or Uzbek. A jury consisting of ICESCO experts and famous poets will evaluate the submitted poems and select three winners, Dune news agency reports.
The first‑place winner will receive a cash prize of $3,000, the second place ‑ $2,000, and the third place - $1,000. All winners will also receive recognition certificates, and ICESCO will publish a collection that will include both the winning poems and the poems awarded honorable mention.
ICESCO invited all poets from the Islamic world to participate in the contest by sending their poems by December 31 of this year via the link.
Terms of participation:
Poems in Arabic must conform to the norms of classical Arabic poetry (both vertical verses and free verse), while works in Uzbek must conform to the metrical and aesthetic standards of Uzbek poetry.;
The poem should be inspired by the values, aesthetics, history, geography, spirit and narrative of the city to which it is dedicated (Samarkand);
the length of the poem should not exceed thirty lines.
