A race will be held at the bottom of the Aral Sea in honor of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

    On June 17, in honor of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, the organizer of mass races in Uzbekistan Andrey Kulikov will run the Aral Eco Marathon with a distance of 42 km 195 m on the bottom of the Aral Sea.

    "As you know, the Aral Sea began to dry up in the second half of the 60s of the last century, and now the area of the drained bottom is about 6 million hectares. At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, plantations of various trees were planted on 2 million hectares, and work is also underway to improve the ecological environment of the region," Aziz Abdukhakimov said.

    The main goal of the race is to draw the attention of the world community to the environmental problems of this region and inspire everyone to take active actions to preserve our planet.
