On May 26, a conference on "From commitment to action" was held in Tashkent.: Strategy and national perspectives for the elimination of violence against children".

The event was organized by the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

It was attended by heads of government agencies, representatives of the judicial and legal system, education and healthcare, employees of civil society institutions, youth, as well as ambassadors of foreign countries to the Central Asian states.

During the event, Uzbekistan officially confirmed its commitment to the Bogota Call to Action international initiative aimed at eliminating all forms of violence against children. This step is a logical continuation of the large-scale legal and institutional reforms carried out in our country over the past two years in the field of child protection. Thus, the Law "On the Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence", which entered into force on May 15, is one of the main regulatory legal acts in this area.

In her speech, the Chairman of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva, noted that protecting children from violence, ensuring their rights and interests is one of the priorities of state policy.: "Everyone is witnessing that the elimination of violence against children leads to the elimination of other violence against other segments of society and, ultimately, to the unconditional guarantee of human rights, freedoms and legitimate interests."

In addition, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Najat Maala, who recently participated in the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent, called on parliaments around the world to join legislative efforts against violence.: "We must continue to constantly promote this issue in the activities of parliaments, governments, non-governmental organizations, as well as on regional and international platforms."

In her speech, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell praised Uzbekistan's child safety policy and stressed that the adoption of a multisectoral strategy and action plan for 2025-2035 would be an important milestone. This strategy serves to form a systematic and sustainable approach to combating violence.

Uzbekistan has also joined the Pathfinding Global Alliance, a global alliance to find ways to end violence against children, and called on Central Asian countries to cooperate more actively in combating violence against children.

Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva, First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection, noted in her speech: "Protecting all children from evil is the highest goal that we must achieve. Eliminating violence is not only a legal, but also a human duty! Because there are no other people's children. Similarly, it doesn't matter whose child is suffering! Today, it is more important than ever to be able to hear the voice of our children. We urge everyone to listen to the "big pains of little hearts" and give them the opportunity to speak!".

The event also included a presentation of a multisectoral strategy and a National Action Plan for Child Protection, a short film "I have a Right", and a signing ceremony for National Commitments under the Bogota Call to Action.

The event once again demonstrated Uzbekistan's strong political will to protect children's rights, willingness to cooperate internationally, and commitment to continuing large-scale reforms at the national level.
