The event, chaired by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, heads of parliaments and high-ranking representatives of foreign states, heads of international and regional organizations.
In his address, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that holding the forum is essential to strengthening fraternal ties, bringing peoples closer together, and widely popularizing the world’s rich spiritual heritage.
It was noted that Magtymguly Fragi’s creative legacy enriched not only the classical poetry of the East but also world literature.
Magtymguly’s work is highly valued in Uzbekistan. The poet was educated at the Shergazi-Khan Madrasah in Khiva, where he studied secular and religious sciences. He deeply revered the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi.
It was emphasized that this year, Uzbekistan is widely celebrating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi’s birth. Conferences, workshops, literary evenings, competitions, performances, and other events are being held. Uzbek and Turkmen filmmakers have shot a joint feature film about the poet.
The Leader of Uzbekistan also expressed support for holding a global summit next year in Ashgabat as part of the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the UN General Assembly on Turkmenistan’s initiative.
Having expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for his meaningful speech and the measures taken in the country to perpetuate the memory of Magtymguly Fragi, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced the decision to award the President of Uzbekistan a medal in connection with the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and thinker’s birth.
Following the event, the Final Document of the Forum was adopted.
