A subsidy of 1 million soums per hectare will be allocated to users of agricultural land

    The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to increase soil fertility and yield, support the introduction of new irrigation technologies in cotton areas" (PP No. 179 of 03/25/2022) was adopted.

    According to the decree, the following mechanisms will be introduced as an experiment to stimulate measures to increase the soil fertility of cotton areas carried out by users (tenants) of agricultural land in 2022-2023:

    • provision of tax benefits for carrying out measures to increase soil fertility and protect against erosion;
    • partial exemption from land tax and allocation of subsidies for the implementation of measures for the restoration, re-introduction into agricultural circulation, new development, reclamation and reclamation of agricultural land.

    In 2022-2023, as an experiment:

    • land users (including clusters) are allocated subsidies of one million soums per hectare of area to increase soil fertility and cotton yield, introduce new technologies for scientifically based crop rotation and irrigation, create plant protection services and modern laboratories;
    • tax benefits for increasing soil fertility and yield of cotton areas are applied to land users whose soil fertility has increased - based on the results of the analysis of soil bonification;
    • the land tax benefits are valid for 3 years.

    According to the Decree, the experience of allocating subsidies will be tested in 13 districts according to the relevant list, the Ministry of Justice reports.
