International Congress Centre in Tashkent hosts a festive event on the occasion of March 8 – International Women’s Day.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is attending the event.

The President of Uzbekistan congratulated women on the holiday, expressed his deep respect and sincere wishes.

“For us, you are, first of all, a sacred image of the mother, dear Motherland and family, an inexhaustible source of love, kindness and inspiration”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President emphasized the activity of women in all spheres, especially their dedication to protecting the health of the population and educating children in the pandemic.

Women make up 45 percent of the employed population of Uzbekistan. Their share in the management system has reached 33 percent. About 1,500 women occupy leadership positions. A personnel reserve of more than 6 thousand active women has been formed to further increase this potential.

The Head of the state also noted with satisfaction the fact that women are heads of 6 districts in the regions.

It was noted that a vertical system is being created that reaches every mahalla and family to ensure the rights and interests of women, to assist them. Over the past three months, the problems of 80 thousand women in need of social protection have been resolved, and 32 thousand women have been employed.

More than 6 trillion UZS of loans have been allocated to almost 215 thousand families for the development of family entrepreneurship. About 22 billion UZS were allocated to 1,250 women for the initial payment for the purchase of housing.

The Head of the state noted that today he signed another resolution on material and social support for women. According to the document, this year 210 billion UZS will be allocated from the budget to provide housing for low-income women and girls raised by single mothers, another 211 billion UZS – to provide the homeless with social housing. Large funds will also be allocated for material assistance, treatment, vocational training and employment of women in need.

The speech of the President also became a kind of appeal to people, especially youth.

“Family is the fortress of love and happiness. As long as there is a family, such a priceless treasure as a child, human dignity and spirituality will not fade away. Family happiness is the greatest good. As one famous song says: “Those who are happy at home are happy everywhere”. I appeal to our dear youth: treat marriage, family, the fate of children with a sense of deep responsibility. Do not endanger your life or the lives of other people”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President noted that in this matter he relies on experienced mahalla activists, representatives of the older generation and the youth themselves.

As is known, on 22 February this year, the Head of the state addressed the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council, where he emphasized the need for radically increasing the role of women in public and political life and entrepreneurship.

At the festive event, the President touched upon the issues of joint implementation of tasks in this sphere. He emphasized that it is necessary to attach special importance to the education of girls, preparing them for an independent life, creating conditions for them to acquire modern knowledge and skills, employment, and taking a worthy place in society.
