The VIII International Congress of WOSCU is taking place in Tashkent and Samarkand from August 23 to 26. It is attended by about 300 world-renowned scientists from 35 countries.

Igor Malkiel, a representative of the Hermitage State Museum, spoke during the VIII International Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan about the possible launch of a restoration laboratory at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.

"I have worked in Uzbekistan as an archaeologist for more than 30 years. I was digging under Bukhara, in Karshi. He was the head of the Pikend expedition. At the Hermitage, I head the restoration of precious archaeological metals, plus a 3D center and a research center. We can help in the creation of restoration laboratories and research centers, with 3D technologies, the creation of inclusive and immersive exhibitions, and the training of restorers," says Malkiel.

At the same time, the scientist clarified that there are no specific agreements with the Center of Islamic Civilization yet. But he expressed hope that the new leadership of the Center would be interested in close cooperation in the technical field of museum business.
