Falcons guarding the sky: birds of prey help prevent emergencies at airports in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's airports continue to actively use biomethod to prevent bird collisions with aircraft. One of the most effective and humane methods of ornithological control remains the use of trained predators - falcons.

According to Uzbekistan Airports, airport ornithologists monitor the movement of birds near the runways all year round. When clusters of birds are found in dangerous areas, specially trained birds of prey are sent there. Falcons are perceived by wild fauna as a natural threat - their presence causes fear and forces other birds to leave the airport area.

Depending on the season, different types of birds appear in the airport area. In summer they are usually small birds, and in winter they are crows. The latter are highly intelligent: they quickly get used to electronic and visual scares, but instinctively continue to avoid falcons.

The use of predators can significantly reduce the risk of ornithological incidents, while maintaining the natural balance. This approach improves flight safety without harming the environment.
