The 4th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Subcommittee on Development Cooperation was held

    On November 3 this year in Tashkent, the 4th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Subcommittee on Development Cooperation was organized by the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade together with the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The event was held with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, Delegation and Embassies of the EU member states in Uzbekistan, as well as ministries and agencies involved, and was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sh.Vafaev and Head of Department of the European Commission S.Rinaldi.

    The key issues on the agenda of the meeting were the prospects and directions for further bilateral financial and technical cooperation with the European Commission within the framework of the new program cycle for 2021-2027.

    In particular, the parties touched upon the implementation of projects and activities in the areas of support for agriculture and "green growth", improving the efficiency of management and digitalization, including judicial, transport and logistics systems, improving the investment climate, as well as socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region.

    The European side announced the intention of the European Commission to allocate targeted grants for Uzbekistan in the amount of 83 million euros for 2021-2024, as well as to expand financial and technical cooperation for the development of the Aral Sea region jointly with the EU member states within the framework of the "Team Europe" initiative.

    As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on close cooperation and joint work in order to accelerate and successfully implement joint initiatives within the framework of the new program cycle of the European Commission for 2021-2027.
