During the meeting, prospects for further development and deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the results of bilateral visits at the highest level were discussed.
In particular, speaking from the Uzbek side, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Co-chairman of the Uzbek part of the Commission Sadyk Safoev noted that it is necessary to strengthen and expand interregional economic ties between Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as issues of labor migration require separate practical study, since it is in this direction that reliable protection must be provided by improving legislation. the rights of migrant workers.
In turn, speaking from the Russian side, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture, Co-chairman of the Russian part of the Commission Ilyas Umakhanov noted that this year is marked by an important anniversary – the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Uzbekistan. The prescription of bilateral relations is much longer than the 30-year milestone, because the peoples of Uzbekistan and Russia are connected by centuries-old friendship, common history, joint achievements and victories.
During the meeting, prospects for cooperation in the fields of higher education and science, tourism, as well as the state and current tasks for expanding interregional cooperation in the context of the implementation of joint investment projects of Russia and Uzbekistan were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold the eighth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
