On January 10, 2023, at the regular plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Consumer Credit" aimed at improving the system of providing consumer credit" was considered in the first reading.

The proposed draft law was developed (https://parliament.gov.uz/ru/events/chamber/41144/)in (https://parliament.gov.uz/ru/events/chamber/41144/) order to ensure the implementation of the Resolution of the President of the country "On additional measures to expand opportunities for mastering modern knowledge and professions" of August 12, 2022.

It was noted that today the demand for financial consumer loans is increasing, but the provision of financial consumer loans for goods (services) that are not produced in the Republic of Uzbekistan is limited by the current Law.

Based on this, in order to improve education, working conditions and life of the population of our country, it is planned to provide them with all the goods (services) of consumer goods (services) necessary for them.

Also, in order to create favorable conditions for the further development of private entrepreneurship and additional opportunities for consumer citizens, the mechanism for using financial consumer credit provided by banks and other credit institutions is being revised.

According to the deputies, the implementation of the bill will create an opportunity to purchase goods (services) that are not produced in our republic at the expense of consumer credit.

At the same time, amendments to this bill will help to encourage the country's producers to move to an innovative development model as soon as possible, introduce new ideas and technologies in the context of growing competition in global markets.

The meeting made a number of proposals and recommendations for further improvement of the bill, after which the document was conceptually adopted in the first reading.
