The US is ready to defend South Korea with nuclear weapons

    The United States is fully committed to protecting South Korea and is ready to use any means to do so, including nuclear weapons.

    This was stated at a joint press conference with his South Korean counterpart Kim Jong Hyun on Wednesday, October 31, in Washington, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

    He stressed that the US commitment to expanded deterrence remains unbreakable. They are "backed up by a full range of American defenses - conventional missile systems, nuclear and advanced non-nuclear weapons," Austin explained.

    At the same time, the head of the Pentagon announced the resumption of large-scale military exercises with South Korea, which, according to him, "will significantly strengthen the combat readiness" of both countries.
