Terrible tragedy in the Syrdarya: five people drowned when a car fell into a canal

    A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Syrdarya region, which claimed the lives of five people. This was reported by the press service of the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

    According to the available data, the incident occurred on June 17, approximately at 13:00 hours when passing over the bridge over the South Mirzachul Canal connecting the mahalla "M. Ulugbek" of the city of Shirin with the mahalla "Nurobod". The driver of the Nexia-2 car lost control and drove into the canal.

    As a result, the driver of the vehicle and four passengers were unable to get out and drowned.

    Rescuers of the emergency rescue squad of the Syrdarya region Emergency Management Department recovered a car, the bodies of the driver and three passengers from the water. Currently, the divers of the rescue team are trying to find the body of another passenger in the channel.

    A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident under article 266 of part 3 of paragraph "a" (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles, resulting in human casualties) The Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. An investigation is underway.
