A family-owned company from the Ferghana region has implemented a major project for the production of dried fruits, and in the first year of the new project, products worth $ 3.7 million were exported, EastFruit experts report.

The family-owned enterprise Yahyohon Trade 2020, specializing in fruit and vegetable processing, launched a new project on drying, processing and packaging of fruits last year. The new dried fruit production facility covers an area of about 5 hectares, and the total cost of this project was $ 4.5 million. The annual processing capacity is 10 thousand tons of products. Currently, 200 permanent and 300 seasonal jobs have been created at this enterprise, according to the official website of the administration of the Fergana region.

During the period January-October of this year, the company exported products totaling $ 3.7 million.

According to trade statistics, in January-August 2023, Uzbekistan's export revenue from the supply of dried fruits to foreign markets amounted to $ 43 million, which is one and a half times more than in the same period last year. Over 60% of this amount is accounted for by prunes, and Uzbekistan has been increasing exports of these products for the second year in a row.

Over the past few years, Uzbekistan's export revenue from the supply of dried fruits averaged about $ 50 million: 2020 - 50.4 million; 2021 - 44.3 million; 2022 - 52.4 million.

By the end of this year, the country's export revenue from the supply of dried fruits will increase significantly, according to EastFruit analysts, mainly due to a sharp increase in the volume of exports of Uzbek prunes.
