Tanzila Narbayeva discussed the fight against crime and drugs with the UN representative

    Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Afghanistan, Central Asia, Pakistan and Iran.

    During the meeting, they highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and expressed the full support and readiness of UNODC to provide comprehensive assistance in these processes.

    It was noted that the fight against human trafficking in Uzbekistan has been elevated to the level of state policy. Significant support from UNODC was noted in this area, as well as confidence that international management experience in combating corruption, drug trafficking and human trafficking contributes to further improving the effectiveness of national mechanisms, taking into account international standards.

    During the conversation, special attention was paid to the role of Parliament in the fight against corruption and human trafficking, which, in turn, contributes to the formation of a solid, internationally recognized legislative system. At the same time, it was noted that this experience of Uzbekistan can serve as an example at the international level.

    It was emphasized that Uzbekistan's work on combating human trafficking and forced labor, identifying related crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice has improved significantly. Achievements in the field of protection of the rights of migrant workers were noted, which is reflected in the improvement of the country's position in international rankings.

    The parties agreed to intensify cooperation on the use of modern information technologies for crime prevention, as well as to prepare a new roadmap for cooperation for 2026-2030, taking into account global challenges such as digitalization, expansion of labor migration and other priorities.
