In order to convey the results of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan and strengthen bilateral cooperation, an international round table was organized at the British Royal Institute of International Relations Chatham House.
The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It was attended by James Nixey, Director of the Eurasian program at the Chatham House Institute, Annette Bohr and Kate Mallinson, researchers on Central Asian countries, as well as representatives of official and expert circles of the United Kingdom.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UK, Ravshan Usmanov, familiarized the participants with the large-scale reforms being implemented in the republic, as well as with the current state and prospects of cooperation between our country and the UK.
Obid Khakimov, Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, made a presentation at the British Royal Institute of International Relations Chatham House.
Obid Khakimov presented an analysis of the socio-economic development of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, including the trade and investment climate, new transport and logistics corridors, as well as prospects for the use of energy resources. Several key points were highlighted: the unrealized potential of the region and new opportunities for cooperation, including with EU countries. In particular, the economic and technical features of trade routes connecting Central Asia and Europe, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the Southern Corridor routes were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the reforms carried out by the countries of the region to integrate the industrial sectors of the countries of the region into the global value chain.
In addition, assessments of the effectiveness of the national model and social protection programs used in Uzbekistan to achieve socio-economic stability are presented.
The participants of the event expressed significant interest in the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, which underlines the importance of the Uzbek experience for British political and economic circles.
At the end of the event, representatives of the analytical institute Chatham House expressed interest in developing further cooperation with analytical centers of Uzbekistan.
