The Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection of Uzbekistan has sent a warning to the country's passenger airlines about the inadmissibility of creating an artificial shortage of air tickets.

On behalf of the Head of our State, in April of this year, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection presented proposals to improve the competitive environment in the passenger air transportation market, optimize air ticket prices, expand private sector participation in the field of air transportation, including domestic routes, as well as in providing aviation fuel and creating equal conditions for all market participants.

Currently, relevant ministries and departments are taking measures to stabilize air ticket prices, attract the private sector, including foreign air carriers, based on the principles of "aviation freedom" and other incentive mechanisms, as well as expand the range of services for the population on domestic routes through the provision of subsidies to domestic carriers on equal terms.

In May of this year, a government decree introduced subsidies for all domestic flights for domestic carriers on equal terms.

In addition, the cost of air tickets for domestic flights is being revised downwards by Uzbekistan Airways and Silk Avia airlines.

It is expected that these measures will increase convenience for the population, give an impetus to the development of domestic tourism and contribute to the economic growth of the regions.

At the same time, the Committee warns that if anti-competitive actions or violations of consumer rights by air carriers are detected, including deliberate restrictions on ticket sales, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the law.
