    Recently, Uzbekistan has been actively supporting a policy of providing various types of loans aimed at developing the economy and improving the standard of living of the population.

    However, in the course of this practice, the population has had fair complaints. It is noted that some state and non-state commercial banks, when conducting credit card transactions, equate payments for utilities, education, medical, insurance and tax payments to cash withdrawals, charging additional interest and fees for this.

    Taking into account these circumstances, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection, in accordance with articles 4, 12, 19, 21 and 23 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Consumer Rights Protection", sent an official request to the Central Bank with a proposal:

    to study the activities of state and non-state banks in terms of accrual of interest and commissions on credit cards;

    review the procedure for conducting these operations, taking into account the interests of consumers;

    take measures to refund unreasonably withheld commissions.

    Additional information will be provided on the progress of the consideration of this issue and the measures taken.
