Supermarket chains have received notifications about the inadmissibility of food price increases before the New Year

On the eve of the New Year holidays and in conditions of increased consumer demand, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection sent notifications to retail chains.: "Basket", "Macro", "Havas", "Baraka", "Magnum", "Assorted", "B1" and "Magnet".

The purpose of the notifications is to ensure price stability for socially important food products and to prevent unjustified price increases by suppliers.

Retail chains are required to:

promptly inform the Committee about possible price changes set by suppliers;

notify about the increase in logistics and other costs affecting the final price of goods;

to warn suppliers about the inadmissibility of unjustified price increases in order to avoid sharp fluctuations in cost for the population.

The Committee emphasizes that compliance with these measures will help to maintain the availability of goods to the public, prevent an increase in food prices and ensure the stability of the food market during the holiday period.
