The decree, prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is aimed at strengthening control over labor migration and combating shadow employment, Yeni Şafak writes.
The document covers the costs of deportation of foreigners convicted of illegal labor, including the costs of their maintenance, accommodation, food, medical care, as well as transportation to their country of origin. If a foreign employee has been detained with family members, the costs for each accompanying person also fall on the shoulders of the employer.
The decision on deportation and all related procedures are carried out in an expedited manner. If a migrant refuses to leave the country voluntarily, the costs incurred by the State are recovered from the employer through judicial and administrative mechanisms.
It is also specified that foreigners without a work permit cannot be employed under any circumstances. Exceptions are possible only in cases explicitly provided for by international agreements to which Turkey is a party.
The Department of the Migration Service and the inspection bodies of the Ministry of Labor are responsible for monitoring the implementation of the new procedure. The law provides for close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to effectively recover all expenses from violators.
This innovation is part of the efforts of the Turkish authorities to regulate the labor market, ensure social justice and strengthen national security amid the growing number of illegal migrants.
