The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has allocated $6.1 million in new funding under its current Targeted Development Grant Agreement (DOAG) with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, thereby increasing the total investment in DOAG to more than $47 million.

This additional funding demonstrates USAID's long-term commitment to supporting the Ministry's comprehensive pre-school and school education program, consistent with Uzbekistan's Development Strategy until 2030.

"Investing in education is investing in a bright future for everyone. By providing quality education, we not only give people the skills and knowledge they need, but also pave the way for a more prosperous, just and stable society," explains David Hoffman, director of the USAID mission in Uzbekistan. "Every dollar spent on education is a step towards creating a better tomorrow for everyone," he added.

The new funding will strengthen existing programs that support the improvement of basic skills for primary school students through inclusive education and the training of youth in grades 8-11 with the necessary entrepreneurial and economic skills needed to get a job and participate in the economy of the future.

Since the signing of the DOAG agreement in 2019, USAID investments in the education sector of Uzbekistan have focused on improving reading and mathematics skills in elementary grades, improving English language proficiency, developing information and communication technology skills and building skills necessary for employment.
