Within the framework of the initiative, a field experiment will be conducted in Uzbekistan within five years in the cotton-wheat-corn crop rotation system using polyhalite, an innovative natural mineral fertilizer rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulfur.
It is expected that the use of modern technologies will improve soil fertility, increase crop yields and prepare practical recommendations for farmers.
The implementation of the project will be an important step towards strengthening scientific and practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IAEA, and will also make a significant contribution to solving one of the country's key environmental problems - land salinization.
It should be noted that issues of expanding cooperation in this area were discussed during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in December 2024 in Tashkent.
