    Uzbekistan and Russia, on the initiative of the presidents, have created an investment platform to finance mutually beneficial projects. This was announced by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov during the 5th meeting of the joint Russian-Uzbek commission at the level of heads of government in Tashkent.

    "At the initiative of the heads of state, an investment platform has been created, it will primarily serve to finance mutually beneficial, significant infrastructure and industrial projects in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan," the head of government said. At the same time, he stressed that the countries cooperate very productively at the regional level.

    Abdulla Aripov noted that the departments and regions of Uzbekistan took an active part in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the Caucasian Investment Forum, the Kazan Forum and INNOPROM in Yekaterinburg, TASS reports.

    "Another important area of cooperation is transport and transit cooperation, we are interested in forming new international transport corridors that would allow our countries to open promising markets for products," the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan added.

    According to him, the number of direct flights between Uzbekistan and Russia has reached almost 300 per week, there is no such indicator with any other country in the world. The Uzbek-Russian railway connection has been restored in full format, the geography of which continues to expand.

    He also noted that cultural and humanitarian cooperation has risen to a qualitatively new level in recent years. In particular, active contacts and exchanges are being carried out in the field of culture and art, tourism, science and sports, a productive dialogue and interaction between leading universities and medical institutions has been established, 14 branches of leading Russian universities are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, work has begun on opening branches of Bauman Moscow State Technical University and the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade.

    "Over 700 thousand Russian tourists visited Uzbekistan last year, which is a record figure. Every 10th tourist in Uzbekistan is from the Russian Federation. A unique three-level system of interaction in the economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres has been formed between our countries," Abdulla Aripov summed up.
