Uzbekistan demonstrated promising areas of cooperation at the Asian Exhibition of Pilgrimage Tourism and Trade in Malaysia

    The National Pavilion of Uzbekistan was officially opened at the Asian Exhibition of Pilgrimage Tourism and Trade (Asia Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo - AITEX), held in the Malaysian state of Selangor.

    The pavilion was organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the administration of Surkhandarya region, republican travel companies and Uzbekistan Airways, the Dunyo news agency reports.

    The exhibition, organized by the Malaysian Association of Travel Agencies and the State Administration of Selangor State, brought together more than 150 travel companies and manufacturers of halal products from more than 20 countries.

    Within the framework of the event, presentations of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan were held with an emphasis on large-scale reforms and measures to develop pilgrimage tourism in the field. The visitors learned about the significant efforts aimed at creating favorable conditions for pilgrims.

    Special attention was paid to the tourist opportunities of Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Samarkand and Khorezm regions, as well as Tashkent. The visitors were provided with information about the rich cultural heritage, unique architecture and national traditions of these regions.

    The exhibition featured new tourist sites in Surkhandarya region, including the shrines of Imam Termiziy in Sherabad district, Sufi Oloyar in Altynsay district, as well as memorials of Muhammad Mawlano Zahid and Alovuddin Attar. Additionally, information was provided on the activities of the Imam Termiziy International Research Center.

    The travel companies "Grand Atlas Discovery", "Sherin Travel", "Antique Travel", "Binkat Travel Group", "Zilol Baht" and "Boutique Hotel Medina" demonstrated their services at the stand of Uzbekistan. Among the programs presented were pilgrimage tourism, historical and cultural tourism, gastronomic tourism, as well as winter and business tourism (MICE).

    During the B2B meetings, tour operators of the two countries discussed ideas to increase the flow of Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan. Information was also provided on Uzbekistan Airways direct flights between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur.

    In addition, the exhibition demonstrated the national crafts of Uzbekistan, dried fruits and food produced in the country.
