The event, held in a hybrid format, brought together representatives of ministries and departments, international financial institutions, bilateral donors, UN agencies and civil society organizations.

The main objectives of the meeting were to get acquainted with the progress in the development of ONUV 3.0, to present mandatory sections that meet the requirements of transparency and accountability (ICTU), as well as to present an innovative tool for visualizing the relationship between climate goals and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Uzbekistan.

In his welcoming speech, the Director of the National Center for Climate Change, Farrukh Sattarov, stressed the need for realistic and scientifically based approaches.:

"We approach the development of ONUV 3.0 with a clear understanding that achieving climate goals requires not only ambitions, but also realistic, scientifically based implementation mechanisms. Only in close cooperation with government agencies, international partners and civil society will we be able to ensure a sustainable future for Uzbekistan."

The UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Sabina Mahl, noted the collective role of the UN system in providing comprehensive support to the climate reform process.:

"The UN system is ready to provide coordinated, intersectoral support to enhance Uzbekistan's climate ambitions within the framework of ONUW 3.0. Using the full potential of UN agencies and building coordinated partnerships with international organizations, we can accelerate a fair and inclusive transition consistent with the goal of keeping warming within 1.5°C."

During the meeting, technical updates on the ONUV 3.0 preparation process were presented, including reports from experts from the National Hydrometeorological Institute and the National Center for Climate Change. The UNDP team presented a consolidated analytical report on the integration of climate and sustainable goals, as well as an online visualization platform.

In her speech, the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Akiko Fujii, emphasized the importance of aligning climate policy with the sustainable development agenda.:

"The development of ONUV 3.0 is not only a climate commitment, but also an opportunity to align sustainable development priorities with measures to combat climate change. UNDP will continue to provide comprehensive support to Uzbekistan in promoting ambitious and inclusive climate solutions that promote sustainable growth, employment, and food security."

At the end of the meeting, development partners, including the World Bank, UNICEF, ADB, EBRD, GIZ and others, presented their proposals and plans to support the ONUV 3.0 preparation process.

The event concluded with a confirmation of Uzbekistan's commitment to the principles of transparency, inclusivity and a science-based approach in climate policy. The updated version of ONUV 3.0 will be prepared for presentation at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in 2025 in Brazil.
