The second meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Central Asian countries took place in Astana

    On the eve of the sixth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, the second meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Central Asian countries was held in Astana on August 8, 2024. The event was attended by the Ministers of Transport of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

    During the meeting, the ministers discussed topical issues of cooperation in the fields of transit corridors, rail and road transport, as well as air transport.

    The policy pursued by the countries on the development of transport connectivity, aimed at the construction of roads and railways, the opening of new ones and the expansion of the international air service network, was particularly emphasized.

    Following the results of the event, the Astana Communique was signed, consolidating the intentions of the parties in further strengthening cooperation.

    In addition, the ministers signed a memorandum aimed at cooperation between the countries within the framework of creating a favorable environment for attracting investments, developing infrastructure and improving the regulatory framework governing the activities of transport and logistics centers.

    The signing of the memorandum was a logical continuation of the Agreement signed in Dushanbe in 2023 on Strengthening the Interconnectedness of Land Transport in Central Asia.
