Scientists from the Finnish State Research Center (VTT), which is located in the city of Espoo, obtained coffee from the cells of the coffee tree.

According to the head of the study, Heiko Fischer, the coffee produced in the laboratory tastes 80% like real coffee, reports TASS.

"Making coffee in this way requires a lot of new technologies. Coffee is roasted, for example, with the help of laser beams," the scientist noted.

The product was named Beanless Coffee (coffee without beans). The researchers hope that their development will be of interest to manufacturers. The process of obtaining food product status for laboratory coffee can take about four years.
