Prospects for cooperation with the leadership of the Oxford Center for Anti-Poverty Studies were discussed in London

Uzbekistan's Ambassador to the UK Ravshan Usmanov met with the director of the Oxford Initiative to Combat Poverty and Human Development (OPHDI), Professor Sabina Alkir.

OPHDI was founded in 2007 as a research center at the University of Oxford. The center's main focus is on multidimensional measurement and analysis of poverty, as well as comprehensive research and solutions to the problem of poverty that go beyond income-based indicators, the Dunyo news agency reports.

Sabina Alkir highly appreciated the large-scale reforms and ongoing state programs in the field of poverty reduction, social security, employment and entrepreneurship development in the New Uzbekistan.

"The policy of the Uzbek leadership aimed at reducing poverty in the country is very relevant and important. Your Government's efforts to find solutions to this problem based on advanced foreign experience and new approaches together with partners and their consistent implementation deserve special praise. I was convinced of this during my participation in the first international forum on poverty reduction, which was held in Bukhara in May 2022," S. Alkir said.

It was noted that OPHDI is interested in further expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan. Sabina Alkir welcomed the fact that the republic has become the 63rd member State in the project "Network to Combat Multidimensional Poverty - MPPN", implemented by the Center since 2013.

According to her, the MPPN project is a platform designed to facilitate cooperation and knowledge sharing between countries and organizations engaged in multidimensional measurement and poverty reduction.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the organization of a round table at OPHDI together with the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan.
