At the opening of the meeting, the welcoming address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was read to the participants. In his message, the Head of State noted that the annual meetings of the Council have formed a solid foundation for cooperation and exchange of experience in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, organized crime and other urgent threats.
The President focused on a number of factors that have an impact on security in the Central Asian region. These include instability in Afghanistan, the intensification of international terrorist groups, cross-border crime and drug trafficking. The need to strengthen cooperation in countering cybercrime and preventing the use of artificial intelligence for destructive purposes was highlighted.
In the context of global security, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed concern about the conflicts in the Middle East and neighboring regions. These processes have a negative impact on economic and food stability, cause an increase in energy prices, create obstacles to the implementation of national and international projects in the energy and transport sectors, and increase unfair competition in the global market.
The Head of State stressed that in the context of modern challenges, further constructive cooperation and joint efforts of the special services of the CIS countries are of particular importance. He noted the importance of working together to ensure the sustainable development of economic, energy, transport and communication systems, as well as to strengthen food security.
Following the meeting, the parties will continue discussing measures to deepen cooperation and coordinate joint initiatives in the field of regional and international security.
