A meeting was held in the Senate with the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia

    On May 19 of this year, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kakha Imnadze, who arrived in our country to participate in the first meeting of the Termez Dialogue on Interconnectedness between Central and South Asia.

    During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on topical issues on the regional agenda and discussed further development of practical cooperation within the framework of the Center's mandate. In particular, special attention was paid to strengthening peace, stability and good-neighborly relations in the region, as well as jointly ensuring sustainable development.

    The meeting discussed issues of ensuring the active participation of international organizations, including the structures of the UN system, in the implementation of initiatives and important documents put forward at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

    The sides also exchanged views on the possibility of organizing a parallel meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries within the framework of the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which is scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan in September this year. It was emphasized that such meetings contribute to the institutionalization of this platform and strengthen the active participation of women in political and social processes.

    At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and work together to implement regional initiatives.
