During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the systemic reforms being implemented in our country in order to ensure gender equality, protect the rights and interests of women and combat violence. In particular, efforts were made to improve the legislative and institutional framework, increase women's socio-political activity, and develop protection and rehabilitation services.
Saara-Sofia Sirena highly appreciated the gender policy implemented in Uzbekistan. She noted that initiatives to combat gender-based violence in the country and strengthen women's rights are of great importance.
In particular, the importance of women's rehabilitation and adaptation centers operating in 14 regions of our country was emphasized. The importance of the active participation of civil society institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the involvement of men and boys in the processes of ensuring gender equality was also noted.
An agreement was reached to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, in particular, within the framework of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries, exchange of experience and coordination of practices through bilateral platforms.
