The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the delegation of the Senate of the French Republic headed by Senator Valerie Boyer, as well as representatives of relevant committees and departments of the two countries.
Opening the forum, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev noted that the holding of this forum opens a new page in the development of interparliamentary cooperation and strengthens the strategic partnership between our countries. He stressed that the agreements reached at the highest level require active parliamentary support.
French Senator Valerie Boyer, in turn, noted the high level of bilateral cooperation, stressing that France attaches great importance to the development of relations with Uzbekistan and considers the forum as an effective platform for expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The forum participants noted that the First Uzbekistan-France Interparliamentary Forum has become an important platform for exchanging views and promoting coordinated approaches in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.
Within the framework of the forum, three thematic sessions were held on issues of political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
During the first session, prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed, including the development of parliamentary diplomacy and coordination of efforts in the Central Asia-European Union format.
The second session was devoted to the expansion of investment and trade cooperation. There was a significant increase in bilateral trade, which reached USD 1.4 billion in 2025, as well as the intensification of the activities of leading French companies in Uzbekistan.
During the third session, the participants reviewed the prospects for cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including the development of educational programs and the initiative to establish an Uzbek-French University in Tashkent.
Following the event, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation, intensify contacts between the parliaments and develop joint initiatives in key areas of cooperation.
