The event was attended by plenipotentiaries and experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member States and the CIS Executive Committee.

Opening the meeting of the expert group, Deputy Director of the Department for Security Cooperation and Countering New Challenges and Threats of the CIS Executive Committee Alim Dzhaksybekov noted that it was held as part of the implementation of the Decision of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS states of June 24, 2022 on the establishment of the medal "For Contribution to Peace Consolidation" in the Commonwealth.

The meeting participants discussed the draft Decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State on this issue. Following the meeting, it was decided to send the materials of the expert group meeting to the states for the procedure of internal approval of the draft Decision, after which it will be submitted in accordance with the established procedure for consideration by the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of CIS Heads of State.

According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the initiative to establish the award was taken by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, considering cooperation in the CIS format as a factor in ensuring peace, stability, good-neighborly relations and the affirmation of humanistic values.

The medal "For Contribution to the Consolidation of Peace" will be an interstate badge of distinction reflecting recognition of special personal merits and distinctions of citizens of the CIS states, as well as representatives of other states in strengthening peace and maintaining international security.
