The EBRD-funded project provides for the modernization of the public transport system in accordance with international requirements. As part of the project, it is planned to purchase modern rolling stock and create a fleet of electric buses (depots). The British company Atkins will develop a feasibility study for the project.

A working group led by the EBRD representative in the Asian region, Nadejda Klyuchnikova, discussed practical steps to implement the project at a meeting with Namangan City mayor Anvarjon Otakhodjayev.
