The Department for Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation, Tourism and Sports has been formed in the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

    In order to further expand cooperation with international organizations in the fields of culture, science and education, healthcare, sports and tourism, humanitarian relations, the Department for Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation, Tourism and Sports has been established in the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The new unit performs a coordinating role in the implementation of the foreign policy tasks of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the areas entrusted to it, ensuring the active position of the country in the global dialogue of civilizations, promoting its positive image on the world stage. Participates in the search, return, including by obtaining copies or duplicates of the originals, of the national cultural and scientific heritage of Uzbekistan, stored in foreign museum collections, archives and collections. Provides assistance in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects for the study and presentation abroad of the Uzbek language, culture, history, literature. Takes measures to organize internships for students, conclude interuniversity and interacademic agreements and memoranda in areas within the competence of the Department.

    Priority in the activities of the new Department will be given to the active use of "soft power" tools, folk, cultural and sports diplomacy.

    Since July 1, 2022, Anvar Abdurakhimovich Abdukhalimov has been appointed head of the Department, concurrently serving as an adviser to the Minister on improving the effectiveness of spiritual and educational work, ensuring compliance with legislation on the state language, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
