The event took place at one of the factories in the Yangihayot district of the capital and was organized jointly by the Customs Committee, the Bureau of Enforcement, environmental authorities and other relevant structures.
A special feature of this event was that the destruction of tobacco products was carried out by grinding, which allowed minimizing the harmful effects on the environment and preventing environmental risks. The destruction was carried out on the basis of court decisions regarding products seized from illicit trafficking.
Open actions to destroy tobacco products have become a good tradition for three years and have been positively evaluated by the public, confirming their effectiveness in preventing offenses.
During the event, tobacco products with a total value of 9 billion 800 million soums were destroyed, seized as physical evidence by operational units of customs authorities within the framework of 6 offenses.
It should be noted that the destroyed products were not equipped with digital labeling codes and excise stamps of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also did not contain mandatory warnings in the official language about the dangers of tobacco products to human health.
For these reasons, these tobacco products were found to be counterfeit and of poor quality. In accordance with the current legislation, goods seized from illicit trafficking are subject to mandatory destruction.
