Uzbekistan Airways flight from Sharm al-Sheikh to Tashkent delivered the twelfth batch of hepatitis C drugs allocated by the Egyptian government as humanitarian aid to our country.

7,200 packages of the drug "Sofosbuvir-400 mg" in 30 boxes will be transferred to patients at the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the news agency "Dune" reports.

It should be noted that Egypt has made significant progress in the fight against hepatitis B and C viruses. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the country's population has completely recovered from this disease, Minister Khalid Abdughaffar said at the 76th session of the World Health Organization, held in Geneva on May 21-30 this year.

According to experts, Egypt's gratuitous assistance to our country in the fight against hepatitis C has saved the state budget 35 billion soums, as a result, these funds allow to increase the volume of "screening" of the population to detect hepatitis from the current 10 thousand to 1 million people, to identify hidden viruses and make it possible to completely eliminate the disease.

It is important to note that this action is carried out in accordance with the agreements concluded during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Egypt on February 20-21, 2023, as well as negotiations between the ministries of health of the two countries.

It is noted that only a mass survey of the population and the constant fight against hepatitis can put an end to the disease by 2030.
