Vaccination against meningitis remains mandatory for Umra and Hajj pilgrims

In December 2024, the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a regulatory document according to which, from 2025, all pilgrims arriving to perform Umra and Hajj must have a document confirming vaccination against meningitis.

However, recently, reports have been spreading on social media that the decision to vaccinate against meningitis for a trip to Hajj and Umra has been canceled.

The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health denied these reports.

"This information is not true. Saudi Arabia has not officially lifted the requirement for a certificate confirming meningitis vaccination for pilgrims performing Hajj and umra," the statement said.

In order to prevent the import of infectious diseases into Uzbekistan and maintain epidemiological stability, pilgrims are strongly advised to be vaccinated against meningitis before traveling.
