As a result of negotiations between the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the competent authorities of Saudi Arabia, all the detainees were able to return to their homeland, the Dune news agency reports.
The main reason for the detention was non-compliance with local laws and rules of conduct established in Saudi Arabia.
Uzbek citizens arrived in Saudi Arabia on tourist visas, but remained in the country for the purpose of employment without obtaining the necessary permits. There are people under the age of 20 among the detainees. Some of them went on a trip without notifying their relatives, which led to concern for the families and active searches.
In this regard, the Embassy of Uzbekistan strongly recommends that all citizens planning trips abroad study the legislation of the country of visit in advance, respect local traditions and norms, and prepare all necessary documents for legal stay and employment. In addition, it is recommended to learn the basics of the language of the country of visit in order to be able to communicate in various situations.
In case of difficult situations on the territory of Saudi Arabia, citizens are advised to contact the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riyadh or the Consulate General in Jeddah.
