Ministers, designated national coordinators of foreign countries, accredited organizations and GCF partners were invited to the conference, where they could coordinate investment plans at a high level to transform long-term strategies for reducing emissions and climate change resilience.
The conference program includes a plenary session with the participation of ministers and heads of accredited organizations, parallel thematic and sectoral sessions and bilateral meetings throughout the event, the Dune news agency reports.
Incheon Mayor Yu Jong Bok, Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia and GCF Executive Director Yannick Glemarek delivered welcoming speeches at the plenary session. Speakers noted the value of mobilizing collective efforts to develop and implement activities that materialize long-term planning of countries in the field of climate change mitigation and investment in adaptation on the ground, taking into account the opportunities and challenges of collective action.
Within the framework of the conference, the delegation of Uzbekistan also held a meeting with the Regional Adviser for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of GCF Svetlana Frenova. The parties discussed the current state of cooperation in the field of environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. The progress of the implementation of GCF-funded projects and promising areas of cooperation, as well as priority areas for fund raising, including with the participation of other donor organizations, were also considered.
