SIUT helps rural youth to get an education in the Republic of Korea

Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT) is implementing a partnership project with Gimcheon High School of the Republic of Korea to train talented children from low-income families. As part of this social project, five graduates of rural schools from Ishtykhan, Akdarya, Kattakurgan and Urgut districts of the Samarkand region are currently taking preparatory courses at SIUT.

By December, they will complete a special course in basic Korean, English and mathematics, for which a special grant has been allocated by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University Bakhtiyor Fazylov. The teaching is conducted by SIUT professors, and conditions for accommodation and meals have been created for the children during this period of study in Samarkand.

Then five talented Uzbekistanis will continue their studies in the Republic of Korea on the basis of a scholarship from Gimcheon High School, which is intended for the cost of air travel, education at this school, as well as accommodation and the provision of educational materials. Young residents of the Samarkand region will also receive additional financial support to cover living expenses for three years - until they complete their studies at High School. The result of their studies will be a diploma, which will open up for them the opportunity to study at higher educational institutions in many developed countries of the world.

The project, initiated by the Samarkand International University of Technology and its Board of Trustees, is a contribution to the successful implementation of one of the main directions of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy - to halve poverty by 2026 by teaching young people in-demand professions.

The selection of talented children from low-income families was conducted on a competitive basis in two stages, which made it possible to select students with really good knowledge and a great desire for further development of science and technology at the international level.

The new Uzbekistan needs talented young specialists who will make a worthy contribution to the development of the Motherland.
