A parliamentary commission has been formed to study the facts and events that occurred in the Republic of Karakalpakstan in July 2022

    On July 15, 2022, a joint meeting of the Kengash of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent. It considered the appeal of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) on the issue of ensuring human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

    The meeting adopted a joint resolution of the Kengash Chambers of the Oliy Majlis on the formation of a commission to study the facts and events that occurred in the Republic of Karakalpakstan in July 2022, and conduct an independent investigation on them.

    This resolution also approved its composition and the regulations on the Commission.

    The Commission includes representatives of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and people's deputies, heads and employees of non-governmental and public organizations.

    The leadership of the Commission is entrusted to the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights F. Eshmatov.

    The results of the investigation will be made public and brought to the attention of the public of Uzbekistan and the world community.

    At this, the joint meeting of the Kengash Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan completed its work.
