    Uzbekistan and Pakistan leaders summarize the results of productive negotiations

    At a meeting with media representatives, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, shared their assessments of the negotiations.

    The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the fruitful results of the meetings, highlighting that this historic visit marks a new chapter in the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

    The President of Uzbekistan highly praised the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in recent years. The volume of trade turnover has exceeded $400 million, 130 joint enterprises have been established, and trade houses have been opened in Karachi and Tashkent. Flights between Tashkent and Lahore have also been resumed.

    The Intergovernmental Commission is operating effectively, political consultations have been fruitful, and a series of business events and Uzbekistan’s industrial exhibition have been successfully held.

    “A substantial delegation of leading Pakistani companies visits our capital. Today, we will meet with businesspeople and discuss joint plans”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

    It was emphasized that during the high-level negotiations, the parties identified new growth points for multifaceted cooperation and agreed to establish a Supreme Council of Strategic Partnership.

    The discussions focused on a substantial increase in trade volumes and expanding the range of mutual trade, strengthening industrial cooperation, enhancing transport connectivity, and creating favorable conditions to support businesses.

    The importance of advancing projects in pharmaceuticals, the agricultural sector, agricultural machinery manufacturing, geology and mineral resources, and the textile, leather, and other industries with the export of finished products to third-country markets was emphasized.

    The leaders agreed to continue close contacts and mutual support within global and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and others.

    The alignment of positions on the peaceful development of Afghanistan and the diplomatic resolution of the Palestinian issue was reaffirmed.

    Additionally, the parties expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation in security, counterterrorism, combating transnational crime, illicit drug trafficking, and other contemporary threats.

    Special attention was given during the negotiations to developing cultural, humanitarian, and tourism exchanges. Agreements were reached on holding mutual cultural and arts festivals and increasing tourist flows, including within the framework of the “Umrah Plus” program.

    In conclusion, it was emphasized that to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the agreements and signed documents, the governments of both countries will adopt a comprehensive roadmap.
