The president of IOC Thomas Bach made a statement regarding the fate of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Beijing-2022.

"We will do everything so that the dreams of athletes are not destroyed," Bach said at a press conference of the organization. "But for this, the safety rules established at the Games should become not just rules for athletes, but a way of life”.

Earlier, the Swiss Olympic Committee asked the IOC to consider the option of postponing the 2022 Olympics due to the growing number of cases of coronavirus infection among athletes. The Swiss side expressed concern that many athletes have been quarantined and miss the pre-Olympic starts, which threatens their chances to show themselves in Beijing.

Recall that, the Olympic Games in the capital of China will be held from February 4 to February 20, 2022. 109 athletes will be awarded with medals at the 2022 Games, and Beijing will be the first city to host both the summer and winter Games.
