The event, organized on the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, was also attended by the heads of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, respectively, in Bishkek and Tashkent.
During the meeting, the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed. The sides discussed in detail the areas of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The sides exchanged views on joint measures to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation, including within the framework of international inter-parliamentary organizations, as well as contacts between relevant parliamentary committees.
In addition, the parties stressed the importance of further development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries on the exchange of lawmaking experience, the organization of effective parliamentary control over the practical implementation of Uzbek-Kyrgyz agreements at the highest level, comprehensive assistance to the development of mutually beneficial ties between the regions of the two countries, further strengthening of the mechanisms of public diplomacy in the interests of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The importance of continuing cooperation in the format of parliamentary friendship groups was noted.
An agreement has been reached to support close contacts between parliamentary committees and exchange proposals on filling the cooperation agenda with new practical content, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
