The countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States need to create a unified system of environmental safety. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia Alexander Kozlov at the eighth meeting of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS countries.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia.

"Our countries have always been together and, despite the borders, were in a single ecological space. We cooperate with each of you on the entire environmental agenda. Not for the sake of trade pressure, but for the sake of a common, environmentally friendly future," he said.

According to him, the most important issue is the creation of a unified working system that would cope with man-made and anthropogenic pollution of the environment.

It was noted that deepening the integration processes of the CIS countries in the field of environmental conservation is "vital".

The parties stated the need to implement the principles of a green economy, safe packaging, reducing the use of plastic and increasing the use of waste at all stages of production.

Recall that the Interstate Environmental Council was established on February 8, 1992, and already in 2013 a new Agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection of the CIS member states was signed.
